Job summary

Marks & Spencer's Software Engineering team invites an experienced Full Stack Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable software solutions that support millions of customers and thousands of colleagues.

You will lead front-end and back-end development, drive third-party integrations, and collaborate with Architecture, Product and Engineering to deliver high-quality, secure software with automated testing.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer, building robust, scalable front-end and back-end systems.
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles, design patterns, testing and DevSecOps with CI/CD experience.
• Expertise in cloud-based application design and delivery, with proficiency in Java, SQL, JavaScript, Git and related toolsets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and influence decision-making.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers, with knowledge of AI/ML and GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot, across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and debug high-quality software solutions, leading by example and championing engineering best practices across the team.
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable applications and third-party integrations, partnering with Architecture and wider technology teams.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code with automated testing and performance standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers while driving operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, incident management and continuous improvement initiatives.
