Job Title: Lead FPGA Engineer

Location: Watford - On-site 4+ days/week

Role Type: Contract – Initial 6 months+

Our client, an established aerospace engineering consultancy, requires an experienced Lead FPGA Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team.

The Lead FPGA Engineer will be responsible for the success of engineering activities within an Integrated FPGA Product Team or one of the FPGA Product Line products.

Please note: We can only consider sole UK Nationals (no dual nationalities).

Responsibilities include:

• Managing an FPGA Engineering Team to deliver project outcomes
• Planning, costing, and scheduling FPGA engineering activities in coordination with Project Planning and Management, following best practices
• Ensuring the FPGA Engineering team has a documented Engineering Plan and adheres to it
• Reporting on progress and risks
• Leading design reviews and overseeing project quality, cost, and schedule
• Maintaining communication with project leaders and technical authorities
• Supporting technical queries and troubleshooting

Qualifications and experience needed:

• Minimum 10 years’ FPGA development experience using VHDL or Verilog
• Proven FPGA engineering management and project delivery experience
• Engineering or scientific Degree or equivalent
• Strong communication skills and team leadership abilities
• Experience across the full FPGA development lifecycle
• Familiarity with FPGA device families and verification methodologies
• Experience with Mentor Graphics FPGA tools (HDL Designer, ModelSim/Questa, Precision)
• Knowledge of Xilinx, Intel (Altera), and Microsemi (Actel) design flows
• Ability to analyze requirements and manage FPGA requirements tools
• Experience debugging FPGA designs and supporting system-level integration and verification
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Practical experience with agile methodologies
