Job summary

Lola Cars, based at Silverstone, seeks a Chief Mechanic to lead mechanical preparation, build, inspection, and presentation of the Formula E car for race and test events. You will coordinate the car crew, manage safe operations, and work with engineers to achieve optimal setup and performance.

The role requires substantial motorsport experience, leadership, and hands-on expertise with high‑voltage systems. You will be based at Lola’s Silverstone facility with travel for events, weekends possibly

Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience as a motorsport mechanic.
• Experience leading a car crew or as Chief Mechanic.
• Experience in Formula E or other high-level motorsport is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of suspension, steering, braking, hydraulics, pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical preparation, build, inspection, servicing, repair, and presentation of the Lola Formula E car(s) for all race and test events.
• Plan and coordinate the work of the car crew, allocating tasks clearly and ensuring deadlines.
• Take ownership of garage and pit-lane mechanical operations, maintaining a disciplined environment.
• Work closely with engineers and technical teams to deliver required specifications and setup changes.
• Interpret drawings and work orders, ensuring assembly matches specifications.
• Lead fault-finding and mechanical rectification during sessions under time pressure.
• Maintain rigorous inspection, torque, measurement, and sign-off standards.
• Support safe integration of high‑voltage powertrain systems within safety procedures.
• Manage tools, equipment, spares, and garage infrastructure for events.
• Ensure cars and equipment are packed, transported, and prepared for international events.
• Contribute to reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
