Job summary

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in community forensic work and experience with learning disability and/or autism to join the Secure Services medical team.

The post supports leadership in medical education, management and quality improvement and offers opportunities to work across FIND and Specialist Community Forensic teams, with a caseload of around 22 patients and regular collaboration with external teams.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCPsych or equivalent.
• Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise.
• CCT in Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry with community experience.
• Evidence of CPD and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Experience in forensic psychiatry and secure services.

Responsibilities

• Act as consultant and Responsible Clinician for a community caseload and related duties.
• Provide forensic psychiatric and medico-legal input; develop formulations and treatment plans.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Attend referral and bed management meetings; conduct admissions/assessments.
• Lead quality improvement, governance and service development initiatives.
• Participate in on-call rota, teaching and supervision of trainees.
