You'll leverage your expertise to optimise electronic prescribing and medication administration (ePMA) systems, ensuring seamless integration within clinical workflows.

In this strategic leadership position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of medication processes, ultimately improving patient outcomes. Your insights will guide the development and implementation of pioneering informatics solutions, bridging the gap between pharmacy and healthcare technology.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the Lead forClinical Informatics and ePMA and the Trust EPMA Programme Manager toconfigure, test and implement the Trust EPMA system. This will involveassisting in, and leading on some aspects of the support, maintenance anddevelopment of the EPMA system and being responsible for the day to daymanagement of the pharmacy components of the EPMA system once implemented. Itwill also involve being part of and assisting in the writing and thedevelopment of key aspects of the EPMA program management and providingfinancial, usage and performance data to key members of the EPMA team andothers in the Trust as needed.

To deputise for the Lea Lead forClinical Informatics and ePMA for certain relevant program aspects and presentat key EPMA and Trust forum as needed.

Additionally, to be flexible andsupport the pharmacy IT colleagues pharmacy systems during key periods andtimes of their absence.

To be responsible for and providepatients with their medication safely and efficiently bydispensing/manufacturing/final checking and supplying from the pharmacydispensaries, stores and aseptic laboratory as needed. To work as a medicinesmanagement technician at ward level as needed.

4. To assists in the development andimplementation of contingency plans to ensure patient safety and servicedelivery are maintained during planned downtime or in the event of systemfailure.

5. To acts as a coordinator for pharmacyaspects of the EPMA system and ensure any pharmacy related incidents areprioritised, logged, resolved and/or escalated to the Leadfor Clinical Informatics and ePMA andTrust EPMA and ICT team as needed.

6. To liaise with senior Pharmacycolleagues regarding prescribing guidelines, medicines/governance policies,formulary/D&T decisions, etc to ensure these are brought to theimplementation, development and maintenance of the Trust EPMA system.

7. To liaise with the EPMA system supplierto ensure the appropriate maintenance of the EPMA system and the continueddelivery and development of its functions and upgrades.

8. To support the Leadfor Clinical Informatics and ePMA inproviding data and conducting audits for strategy development, serviceplanning, performance and activity monitoring, budgeting and financialmanagement. To lead on providing monthly reports on medicines prescribed andadministered within the Trust.

9. To regularly audit, analyse andinterpret data to identify anomalies, resolve problems and ensure dataintegrity.

10. To liaise with and cover the duties ofthe Pharmacy IT team and pharmacy systems as needed but primarily duringperiods of their absence.
