Job summary

Humanoid in London is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer to drive the firmware powering our next-gen humanoid robots. You will lead hands-on embedded development at the intersection of robotics, real-time control, and software architecture.

You will mentor a growing team, collaborate with hardware and systems engineers, implement robust drivers, and optimize for performance, reliability, and power. This role places you at the frontier of safe, commercially scalable robotics with direct impact on

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, preferably in robotics.
• Strong C / C++ skills for microcontrollers across RTOS and bare-metal environments.
• Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex, STM32 or similar platforms.
• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and debug firmware for humanoid robots focusing on motion control and sensor integration.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate microcontrollers and peripherals.
• Design and implement drivers for motors and sensors.
• Optimize firmware for performance, reliability, and power efficiency.
• Develop and test real-time control algorithms for movement and balance.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, review code, and promote best practices.
• Ensure robust security and fail-safe mechanisms in embedded systems.
• Maintain documentation and manage firmware version control.
