Job summary

White Recruitment Construction is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician to join our UK & Ireland field-based service operation in the commercial laundry equipment sector. This is a senior, lead or coaching role with responsibility for overseeing installations and service assignments and ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.

Lead Field Service Technician

Location: UK & Ireland – Field Based

The Role

A newly developing opportunity has arisen for a Lead Field Service Technician to join a growing UK & Ireland technical service operation within the commercial laundry equipment sector.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer or Technician who is ready to take the next step into a senior, lead or coaching position.

The Lead Technician will continue to be technically involved but will also take greater responsibility for overseeing installations and service assignments, coordinating activities, supporting other technicians and ensuring jobs are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

You do not necessarily need to be the most hands-on installer in the team. The key requirement is the ability to understand a project or service assignment from start to finish and ensure the right people, equipment and resources are in place to deliver it successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee installation, commissioning and service assignments.
• Take ownership of jobs from initial planning through to completion.
• Coordinate technicians, resources, timing and customer requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other Field Service Technicians.
• Coach and develop less experienced members of the team.
• Assist with electrical, controls, PLC, electronic and mechanical fault finding.
• Diagnose complex issues across automated industrial equipment.
• Support installations involving conveyors, automation and control systems.
• Liaise directly with customers and provide a professional technical service.
• Identify potential issues before they impact project delivery.
• Ensure installations and service work are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Produce accurate service and installation documentation.
• Support the Service Manager with technical and operational issues.
• Travel throughout the UK and Ireland, including overnight stays.
• Participate in occasional weekend installations and service assignments.

About You

The company is open to candidates from transferable industrial technical backgrounds and commercial laundry experience is not essential.

Experience with PLC systems, electrical controls, automation, conveyors, industrial machinery or complex electromechanical equipment would be particularly valuable.

You should be someone who can look beyond the individual technical task and understand how an entire installation or service job needs to be delivered.

The successful candidate will ideally be confident supporting and coaching other engineers, coordinating work on-site and acting as a senior point of contact for both customers and the internal team.
