Job summary

Omega Red Group is seeking a Lead Fall Protection Engineer to join our Height Safety division in Bristol. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership, delivering installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance services while mentoring junior engineers.

You will lead on-site projects, ensure high standards of safety and quality, and collaborate with clients to provide expert technical input and robust solutions for height safety challenges.

Qualifications

  • Experience in height safety or fall protection industry.
  • 2+ years installing, inspecting, testing, and repairing height safety systems.
  • Proven ability to lead on-site projects and mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out survey, installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of height safety systems.
  • Lead on-site projects, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers on site.
  • Deliver excellent client service and build strong relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation through risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Support pre-tender surveys and provide technical input to estimators.
  • Produce inspection and testing reports identifying defects and remedial actions.
  • Install and commission height safety equipment per standards.

The Role

Omega Red Group is seeking an experienced Lead Fall Protection Engineer to join our growing Height Safety division. This is an

exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in fall protection and height safety systems who is

looking to take the next step in their career, combining hands‑on engineering expertise with leadership and mentoring

responsibilities.

As a Lead Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high‑quality installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance services

while supporting and developing junior engineers within the team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Fall Protection Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out the survey, installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of a wide range of height safety systems.
  • Lead projects on‑site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Mentor and support engineers and operatives, helping to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation through the effective use of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Carry out and support pre‑tender surveys, providing technical input and recommendations to the Estimating team.
  • Produce accurate inspection and testing reports, clearly identifying defects and recommending remedial actions.
  • Install and commission a variety of height safety equipment in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business and contribute to maintaining operational excellence.
What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within the height safety or fall protection industry.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience installing, inspecting, testing, and repairing height safety systems.
  • Proven experience working with:
  • Cable-based fall protection systems
  • Anchor points and eyebolts
  • Abseil and rope access anchor systems
  • Davit arms and sockets
  • Guardrails
  • Fixed ladders
  • A strong understanding of health and safety requirements and industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • The ability to work independently and use your initiative to solve problems.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring, or leading others on‑site.
  • A flexible approach to travel and overnight stays when required.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Relevant height safety, working at height, or fall protection qualifications.
  • Experience assisting with site surveys, system design recommendations, or technical project support.
