Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking an experienced Facade Designer for a permanent role based in Henley-on-Thames. The successful candidate will deliver production-ready CAD drawings, interpret complex design briefs, and apply façade engineering with attention to building physics and environmental performance.

You will work on-site, collaborate with internal teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to risk assessments and compliance with Building Control, BSA and CDM regulations while pursuing CPD.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Facade Designer or similar role.
• Strong CAD skills and production-ready drawings.
• Deep knowledge of façade design, materials and engineering principles.
• Exposure to fire engineering principles, building physics and environmental performance.
• Familiarity with Building Control, Building Safety Act (BSA) and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed façade design drawings using CAD for production-ready outputs.
• Interpret design briefs and follow advanced technical instructions.
• Apply façade design knowledge and material selection to projects.
• Conduct risk assessments on material choices and design solutions.
• Produce specifications and ensure alignment with environmental and physics principles.
• Ensure compliance with Building Control regulations and BSA.
• Apply CDM principles and assess design-related risks.
• Identify project drivers, risks, and variations and keep records updated.
• Contribute to basic design programmes and timelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Review outputs from juniors to maintain quality standards.
• Lead small project teams and mentor less experienced colleagues.
• Engage in CPD and share knowledge with the team.
• Provide feedback on policies to support continuous improvement.
