Job summary

Smart Teachers is seeking a passionate Reception Teacher and EYFS Lead to join a West Drayton primary school on a full-time maternity cover contract starting ASAP and lasting until July 2027. The role combines leading the Reception class with delivering high-quality EYFS provision and safeguarding responsibilities.

The successful candidate will drive EYFS development, foster inclusive practices, and collaborate with teammates to maintain outstanding teaching and learning across the Early Years

Qualifications

• Requires QTS and strong EYFS experience (preferably in Reception).
• Proven leadership experience in EYFS or ability to demonstrate leading an EYFS team.
• Solid understanding of EYFS framework, curriculum planning and assessments.
• Excellent classroom management and communication with pupils, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for Reception pupils in line with the EYFS framework.
• Lead and coordinate EYFS provision, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and care.
• Oversee curriculum planning, assessment and monitoring of children's progress across the Early Years setting.
• Create a stimulating learning environment that supports children's communication, language, physical, social and emotional development.
• Use observations and assessments to identify individual needs and plan appropriate next steps.
• Support staff in developing effective EYFS practice and maintaining consistent approaches to teaching and learning.
• Promote inclusive practice and ensure all children receive appropriate support and opportunities to succeed.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers, supporting a smooth transition between home, nursery and school.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and statutory EYFS requirements are followed.
• Contribute to school improvement and the continued development of Early Years provision.
