Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking an Extraction Supervisor to lead quarry operations, ensuring safety, environmental performance and continuous material supply. You’ll work with drilling and blasting contractors to optimise performance while driving improvements across the site.

You’ll manage contractors, uphold HSE standards, and develop the team using Lean/Six Sigma principles, ensuring equipment reliability and high throughput on site in the quarry operations.

Qualifications

• At least five years’ quarrying experience.
• Explosives supervisor and shotfiring qualifications.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• NVQ Level 4 in SHE Quarry Operations.
• Strong understanding of quarry extraction and blasting activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead extraction operations safely and in line with regulations and our HSE system.
• Coordinate with drilling and blasting contractors to optimise blast performance and environmental impact.
• Manage contractors, ensure safe practices, and maintain standards across the quarry.
• Ensure material supply quality and throughput to maximise site performance.
• Oversee maintenance of mobile plant and implement 5S, Lean and Six Sigma improvements.
• Identify training needs and develop the team with appropriate inductions.
