Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking an ambitious Assistant Quarry Manager for our busy Chipping Sodbury operation. You will lead site operations, develop teams and drive safety, quality and efficiency in a fast-paced quarry environment.

You will work with the Unit Manager to deliver targets, manage costs and champion continuous improvement while upholding high standards of customer service. This role provides a clear path for leadership development within a global materials business.

Qualifications

• Experience within quarrying, aggregates, mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
• Supervisory or management experience with a passion for developing teams.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of operational performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to analyse information and make effective operational decisions.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and change.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of the quarry and operational teams to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Lead and develop operational teams, driving safety culture and policy compliance.
• Help deliver production targets while maximising efficiency and controlling costs.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
• Support environmental performance and sustainability objectives.
• Collaborate with technical, logistics and sales teams to ensure customer service and product quality.
• Assist with resource planning, training and succession development.
• Support capital projects and site improvement programmes.
• Utilise management data to drive performance improvements.
