Job summary
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Drinking Water seeks an Environmental Engineer Senior to lead engineering functions for the Southeast Virginia Field Office in Norfolk. You will supervise engineers, interpret regulations, and provide guidance on projects to ensure safe drinking water for the public.
You will assess plans, train staff, and communicate technical information to diverse audiences while aligning with state and federal rules.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of biology, microbiology, chemistry, and core engineering principles.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations and complex technical documentation.
- Experience leading professional staff and supervising engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering functions for assigned regional area or office.
- Audit and approve other engineers' work and guide staff.
- Interpret regulations for operators and owners; develop and revise local/state regulations as needed.
- Provide training and technical assistance to staff and the public.
- Communicate findings and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
