Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced Acoustics Consultant for a three-month fixed-term contract to lead a defined programme of noise and vibration work. You will guide the acoustics scope on a major client project and handle live commissions across the team, delivering to agreed deadlines.

The role is delivery-focused from day one, with technically interesting schemes in energy and infrastructure. It suits hands-on acoustics specialists who work well on defined, high-impact engagements.

Qualifications

Requires degree or IOA diploma in acoustics or related field.
Post-qualification experience in environmental acoustics consultancy in the UK planning context.
Ability to apply BS 4142, BS 5228 and BS 8233 to real projects.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of noise and vibration assessments from scoping to final reporting.
Design, oversee and quality‑assure baseline environmental noise surveys.
Model and predict noise/vibration for construction and operation phases.
Prepare construction noise and vibration assessments per BS 5228 and PPV criteria.
Deliver acoustics chapters for EIA and planning submissions; support regulatory queries.
Develop mitigation strategies with engineering teams and monitor progress.
Provide guidance to junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing.
