Job summary

ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA in London, England is seeking a Lead Architect to establish a brand-new architecture function from scratch. You will lead enterprise, solution and technical architecture to ensure coherent, secure, and strategically aligned digital decisions.

You will chair governance bodies, provide senior advice on digital, data, cyber security and emerging tech, and mentor a team of five.

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise, solution or technical architecture within a large/complex organisation.
• Professional certification or formal training in TOGAF, ITIL or ISO 27001 (or equivalent).
• Deep experience designing and governing end-to-end technology solutions across cloud services, applications and data integration.
• Strong understanding of secure-by-design principles and zero-trust models across modern technology estates.
• Ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to non-technical audiences.
• User-centred mindset with ability to coach and develop a team.

Responsibilities

• Establish and run a brand-new architecture function from scratch.
• Lead enterprise, solution and technical architecture aligned with strategic goals.
• Chair the Technical Design Authority and oversee the Strategic Architecture Board.
• Provide senior professional advice on digital, data, cyber security and emerging tech like AI and automation.
• Lead and develop a team of five, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Support legacy system modernisation and cloud migration while ensuring security and governance.
