Job summary

BJAK is seeking a Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of complex products and drive major initiatives from idea to production. You will design systems, write and review code, and mentor other engineers while balancing architectural trade-offs across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure.

You will collaborate with product, design and AI teams to ship high-quality products quickly, staying hands-on when needed and elevating the engineering bar across the team.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with production systems experience.
• Deep expertise in backend/frontend/APIs/databases or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design skills with ability to make architectural decisions for large-scale systems.
• Willingness to stay hands-on, review code and contribute to production reliability.
• Experience leading major engineering projects and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features and engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on with engineering through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Break ambiguous problems into clear engineering solutions and execution plans.
• Set a high bar for code quality, design, testing, security, observability and reliability.
• Review designs and code from engineers and provide actionable feedback.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capabilities across the team.
• Identify risks and bottlenecks before they become bigger problems.
• Collaborate with AI, product and design teams to ship high-quality products quickly.
• Improve tooling and automation to increase team velocity.
• Own systems beyond release—monitor production and resolve root causes.
