Job summary

Platform Property Care in Leicestershire is seeking a Lead Engineer - Plumbing to deliver high‑quality repairs and maintenance while coaching colleagues and supporting apprentices. You will manage jobs end‑to‑end and act as the technical expert for trade queries, ensuring safety, compliance, and best practice across teams.

The role combines practical plumbing expertise with people development in a mobile, customer‑facing environment, requiring a valid UK driving licence and DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or equivalent, completed apprenticeship or similar.
• Additional trade qualifications are desirable.
• Unvented Hot Water qualification is essential.
• Experience in domestic property work and social housing is preferred.
• Full UK driving license is essential for a mobile role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of plumbing repairs and maintenance in customers' homes and communal areas.
• Manage jobs from inspection to completion with excellent customer service.
• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues and apprentices.
• Assess colleagues against multi-skill framework and support EPA.
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice across Property Care.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development to upskill teams.

Are you a highly skilled Plumber who takes pride in delivering excellent repairs and maintenance and supporting others to succeed?

At Platform Property Care, we're looking for a Lead Engineer - Plumbing to join our team in Leicestershire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced multi skilled Plumber to combine hands-on trade expertise supporting colleagues, driving quality standards and helping improve our service delivery.

Acting as the subject matter expert for plumbing, you'll spend around 70-80% of your time delivering repairs and maintenance work, while dedicating the remainder to coaching colleagues, assessing competence, supporting apprentices, and promoting best practice across our Property Care teams.

What could you be doing?

You will be ensuring our customers' homes are maintained and repaired to a high standard while also helping to drive consistency, quality and best practice across our Property Care teams.

As a Lead Engineer - Plumbing, you will:

• Carry out a wide range of plumbing repairs and maintenance work within customers' homes and communal areas.
• Manage jobs from inspection through to completion, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
• Support colleagues through coaching, mentoring and skills development
• Assess and sign off colleagues against our multi-skill framework and support apprentices through their End Point Assessments (EPA).
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice across Platform Property Care.
• Work alongside Learning & Development teams to support trade training and upskilling initiatives.
• Conduct trade audits, reviews and quality assessments to ensure compliance and high standards.
• Act as a technical expert and escalation point for trade-related queries.
• Monitor industry developments, legislation and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement and enhance service delivery.

Some things we need from you:

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing, completed apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Additional Trade qualifications.
• Unvented Hot Water qualification is essential
• Significant experience working as a Plumber within the building trade.
• Experience working within occupied domestic properties.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Experience of recording accurate job and repair information using mobile devices.
• Good IT and digital skills
• The ability to coach, support and develop colleagues.
• A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
• Experience working within social housing, a local authority or housing association.
• Previous coaching, mentoring or assessor experience.
• A full valid driving licence is essential as this is a mobile role.
• As you will be working within customers' homes this role requires a DBS check.
• This role is for a team covering Leicestershire. Ideally you will only have a maximum of an hour's commute to this area.
