Job summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a Lead Engineer – Cockpit to lead subsystem engineers and manage deliverables for defined components and systems. You will plan and run cross-functional meetings, own delivery timelines, and ensure conformance to engineering specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven project management capability demonstrated by delivery on time and budget.
• Engineering knowledge of component/system design, production requirements, and manufacturing needs.
• Strong communications skills across all levels of the organisation.
• Experience using engineering tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, and problem resolution.
• History of delivering within automotive product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead sub-system engineers and deliverables for defined components and systems.
• Plan, run and publish minutes for engineering sub-system meetings with cross-functional input.
• Ensure timely delivery of commodities on cost and to specifications.
• Identify risks, escalate unresolved issues, and drive action owners.
• Ensure progression of programme timing and effective communication to management.
• Apply APQP practices to manage system/component delivery and vehicle builds.

THE ROLE

TheLead Engineeris responsible for leadership of thesub system engineers and is responsible fordeliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s).

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

This positionisresponsible forestablishing,planningand running the engineering sub systemmeetings to ensureappropriate crossfunctional representation and input from all relevant areas. You will have responsibility for:

• Engineering ownership ofgiven commodities
• Delivery of given commodities on time, on cost andto engineering specifications
• Establishing theteamworkplan
• Ensuring progress is made by following up actions with their owners.
• Publishing minutes from each meeting
• Ensuring that the engineering sub-systemdelivers itsobjectivesand targets (technical and business)
• Ensuring that programme timingobjectivesare met
• Communicating team progressto management
• Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/ component delivery
• Ensuring vehicle builds are supported with parts at the required level
• Ensuring that issues are addressed and closed off
• Ensuring that issues thatcannot be resolvedare escalated to Module Leader
• Identifyingall risks to the programme.
• Ensuring maturation ofcomponentand subsystemsin line with project planrequirements

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

• Proven project managementcapabilitydemonstratedby recent delivery on time & budgetwithin a product development environment.
• Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements,
• Excellent communications skills,demonstratedability to communicate at all levels,
• Significant experiencein use of engineering tools FMEA,Six Sigma,problem resolution etc.
• Successful history ofdelivery within the automotiveproduct developmentsector.
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

• CAD Literacy:ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools.
• Ability to generate CAD data in Catia v5/6would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge ofproject delivery processes e.g.PPAP Working
