Job summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a Lead Engineer – Door & Closures in the United Kingdom to lead sub-system engineers and drive delivery of defined components and systems. You will chair meetings, ensure timely, on-budget delivery, and manage cross-functional input to meet engineering specifications.

Applicants should have strong project management experience, engineering knowledge, and a track record in automotive product development.

Qualifications

• Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery on time & budget within a product development environment.
• Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
• Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
• Significant experience in use of engineering tools FMEA, Six Sigma, problem resolution etc.
• Successful history of delivery within the automotive product development sector.
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the subsystem engineers and deliverables for defined component(s) or system(s).
• Establish and run engineering sub-system meetings with cross-functional input.
• Own engineering delivery of commodities on time and to cost and specification.
• Publish minutes and track actions; escalate unresolved issues to Module Leader.
• Ensure program timing objectives are met and communicate progress to management.
• Apply APQP to manage system/component delivery and ensure builds have required parts.

THE ROLE

TheLead Engineeris responsible for leadership of thesub system engineers and is responsible fordeliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s).

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

This positionisresponsible forestablishing,planningand running the engineering sub systemmeetings to ensureappropriate crossfunctional representation and input from all relevant areas. You will have responsibility for:

• Engineering ownership ofgiven commodities
• Delivery of given commodities on time, on cost andto engineering specifications
• Establishing theteamworkplan
• Ensuring progress is made by following up actions with their owners.
• Publishing minutes from each meeting
• Ensuring that the engineering sub-systemdelivers itsobjectivesand targets (technical and business)
• Ensuring that programme timingobjectivesare met
• Communicating team progressto management
• Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/ component delivery
• Ensuring vehicle builds are supported with parts at the required level
• Ensuring that issues are addressed and closed off
• Ensuring that issues thatcannot be resolvedare escalated to Module Leader
• Identifyingall risks to the programme.
• Ensuring maturation ofcomponentand subsystemsin line with project planrequirements

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

Preferred:

• CAD Literacy:ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools.
• Ability to generate CAD data in Catia v5/6would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge ofproject delivery processes e.g.PPAP Working
