Job summary

Platform Housing Group, through Platform Property Care, seeks a Lead Engineer – Carpentry in Lincolnshire to deliver carpentry repairs in homes and communal areas and to coach colleagues and apprentices to raise standards. The role covers Grimsby, Louth, Skegness and Boston with a strong focus on customer service.

You will be the technical expert, promote best practice, and collaborate with Learning & Development to enhance trade training while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds Level 2 in Carpentry required or equivalent
• Additional trade qualifications encouraged
• Full UK driving licence and DBS check required for mobile role

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance in homes and communal areas
• Manage jobs from inspection through to completion with excellent customer service
• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues and apprentices
• Assess colleagues against multi-skill framework and support End Point Assessments
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice across Platform Property Care
• Work with Learning & Development teams to support trade training
• Conduct trade audits, reviews and quality assessments for compliance
• Act as technical expert and escalation point for trade queries

Are you a highly skilled Carpenter who takes pride in delivering excellent repairs and maintenance and supporting others to succeed?

At Platform Property Care, we're looking for a Lead Engineer – Carpentry to join our team in Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced multi skilled Carpenter to combine hands-on trade expertise supporting colleagues, driving quality standards and helping improve our service delivery.

Acting as the subject matter expert for carpentry, you'll spend around 70-80% of your time delivering repairs and maintenance work, while dedicating the remainder to coaching colleagues, assessing competence, supporting apprentices, and promoting best practice across our Property Care teams.

What could you be doing?

You'll be ensuring our customers' homes are maintained and repaired to a high standard while also helping to drive consistency, quality, and best practice across our Property Care teams.

As a Lead Engineer – Carpentry, you will:

• Carry out a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance work within customers' homes and communal areas.
• Manage jobs from inspection through to completion, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
• Support colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and skills development.
• Assess and sign off colleagues against our multi-skill framework and support apprentices through their End Point Assessments (EPA).
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice across Platform Property Care.
• Work alongside Learning & Development teams to support trade training and upskilling initiatives.
• Conduct trade audits, reviews, and quality assessments to ensure compliance and high standards.
• Act as a technical expert and escalation point for trade-related queries.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help shape future ways of working.

Some things we need from you:

• NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds Level 2, or equivalent qualification in Carpentry.
• Additional Trade qualifications
• Significant experience working as a Carpenter within the building trade.
• Experience working within occupied domestic properties.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Experience of recording accurate job and repair information using mobile devices.
• Good IT and digital skills
• The ability to coach, support and develop colleagues.
• A commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Experience working within social housing, a local authority or housing association.
• Previous coaching, mentoring, or assessor experience.
• A full valid driving licence is essential as this is a mobile role.
• As you will be working within Customers' homes this role requires a DBS check.
• This role is for a team covering Grimsby, Louth, Skegness and Boston in Lincolnshire. Ideally you will only have a maximum of an hour's commute to this area.
