Job summary

Weetabix is seeking a Lead Engineer to provide day-to-day leadership for a manufacturing shift. You will coordinate planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and guide a team of multi-skilled engineers to optimize uptime, safety, and quality across the site.

You will balance hands-on technical work with people leadership, develop engineering capability including apprentices, and drive continuous improvement to meet production targets and standards at Burton Latimer.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical, electrical and control systems within a complex manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated ability to develop engineering capability and mentor teams and apprentices.
• Proficiency with CMMS and using data to drive planning and outcomes.
• Understanding of manufacturing operations and impact on OEE, downtime, cost, quality and waste.
• Ability to collaborate with production and engineering teams for maintenance planning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering leadership for a manufacturing shift.
• Coordinate planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support shift performance.
• Balance hands-on technical work with people leadership and skills development.
• Maintain high engineering standards and maximise asset uptime.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Produce shift reports on engineering performance and downtime trends.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
