Job summary

SR2 is seeking an Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their Reading-based team on a permanent, on-site basis. The role focuses on high‑performance electric drive and electromechanical technology, with close collaboration across electronics, controls and test engineers to extract maximum system performance.

You will work on three‑phase brushless motor control firmware, C/C++, and real‑time embedded systems, including hardware bring‑up and field updates.

Qualifications

Proven experience developing embedded firmware for electric motors or other demanding real‑time control applications.
Experience creating three‑phase brushless motor control firmware, not just configuring vendor solutions.
Strong skills in bare‑metal C/C++, real‑time systems, and hardware bring‑up.

Responsibilities

Develop embedded firmware for motor control applications and three‑phase BLDC control.
Implement and optimize FOC and commutation strategies.
Develop deterministic real‑time software and hardware bring‑up with peripherals (TIM, ADC, DMA).
Work with CAN, SPI, UART, and I2C interfaces and improve telemetry and fault handling.
Collaborate with electronics and test engineers to optimise performance and architecture.
