Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc seeks a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead development of innovative electrical solutions for subsea and defence systems. You will design new products, provide through-life support, and upgrade deployed equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.

The role involves global commissioning, trials, acceptance testing, and collaboration across software, controls, electronics and mechanical teams. UK security clearance is a requirement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience in design and manufacture of power, control and instrumentation systems, with DC systems.
• Experience producing and maintaining engineering documentation, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for the creation and management of engineering documentation.
• Experience designing products to meet CE compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design support for new products and existing systems, including resolving technical queries and implementing product improvements.
• Collaborate with sales, supply chain and production teams to deliver effective technical solutions.
• Represent JFD in customer design reviews, technical discussions, audits and acceptance testing activities.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, including specifications, proposals, test procedures, reports and manufacturing drawings.
• Ensure engineering activities are delivered on time, within budget and in compliance with relevant standards, regulations and company procedures.
• Act as a technical approver for engineering drawings and documentation.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to their development through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
