Job summary

Natara Global in Billingham/Hartlepool is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to lead design, maintenance and compliance of E&I systems across its operations. You will act as a technical authority, support projects, troubleshoot, and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires a degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering, experience in process industries, knowledge of UK standards (BS 7671, ATEX, DSEAR), CompEx or equivalent, and strong ability to manage contractors

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience in design, operation and maintenance of E&I systems in process/industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of UK electrical/instrumentation standards and good practice.
Familiarity with functional-safety standards and hazardous-area equipment.
CompEx certification or comparable hazardous-area competency.
Experience in chemicals/energy/oil & gas/manufacturing or related sectors.
Experience with industrial control systems, automation and instrumentation networks.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP and PLC/DCS platforms.
Strong communication and leadership skills with contractor teams.
Chartered status or progression is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Lead design and specification of E&I systems for new installations and plant modifications.
Complete technical reviews of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting to maintenance and operations teams.
Ensure compliance with BS 7671, ATEX, DSEAR and IEC standards.
Act as the technical authority for electrical and control systems.
Maintain system integrity and identify opportunities for improvements.
Manage E&I interfaces with contractors, vendors and consultants.
Support and lead HAZOP, LOPA and SIL verification studies.
Develop maintenance strategies for E&I equipment.
Support asset integrity, reliability and plant availability.
Produce and review technical specifications, drawings and reports.
Contribute to capital projects from concept to procurement, installation and commissioning.
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to technicians.
Collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance teams.
