Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking an experienced EC&I Engineer (Electrical Controls & Instrumentation) to join our project delivery team. You will lead EC&I design activities from concept through commissioning and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors on complex industrial infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will be qualified in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering, with experience in process, utilities or industrial sectors.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering through apprenticeship, HNC/HND, BTEC, degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in process, utilities, water, chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, process industry, industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for EC&I design activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce electrical and instrumentation schedules, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Develop control system requirements and URS.
  • Review and approve subcontractor designs, drawings and submissions.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical evaluations and supplier selection.
  • Conduct FAT and equipment inspections for switchboard, MCC and PLC/HMI software.
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases and attend client and project meetings.
  • Support tendering activities with technical input and estimates.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety and quality standards.

Job description

A leading engineering solutions provider is seeking an experienced EC&I Engineer, Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineeror ECIA Engineer to join their growing project delivery team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex industrial infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for the electrical, control, instrumentation and automation aspects of projects from concept through to commissioning. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions within regulated industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • The EC&I Engineer / Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineer / ECIA Engineer will take responsibility for EC&I design activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce electrical and instrumentation schedules, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Develop control system requirements and user requirement specifications (URS).
  • Review and approve subcontractor designs, drawings and technical submissions.
  • The EC&I Engineer / ECIA Engineer will support procurement activities, including technical evaluations and supplier selection.
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and equipment inspections for switchboard, MCC and PLC/ HMI software
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases and attend client and project meetings, including occasional site visits.
  • Support tendering activities with technical input, estimates and engineering proposals.
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with health & safety and quality standards.
About You
  • The EC&I Engineer / ECIA Engineer will be qualified in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering through apprenticeship, HNC/HND, BTEC, degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience within process, utilities, water, chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, process industry, industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a project environment.
  • Health & safety conscious with a proactive approach to problem solving.
