Job summary

Binnies UK is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive delivery of critical water infrastructure projects in the UK. You will lead electrical teams, shape design approaches, and mentor junior engineers to build capability across the portfolio.

You will coordinate with project managers, JV partners and clients to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant solutions across controls, automation and power systems. A strong leadership mindset and a proactive, collaborative approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership of electrical engineering teams in water-sector projects.
  • Experience with control systems and automation design.
  • Solid understanding of project governance, quality systems and interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor electrical engineering teams to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Produce single-line diagrams, control system architectures, MCC datasheets and load schedules.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary designs and ensure safety, quality and governance compliance.
  • Provide on-site technical support and client-facing guidance during project execution.

What You'll Do

As a technical and team leader, you will have a pivotal role in delivering safe, efficient and innovative electrical engineering solutions. You will:

  • Lead and guide electrical engineering teams to produce high-quality technical outputs, including:
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Control system architecture
  • MCC datasheets
  • Load schedules
  • Act as a technical specialist, providing expertise across all project stages
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, engineering standards, and governance
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary designs and manage integration across all engineering interfaces
  • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, JV partners, and clients
  • Lead reviews of bids, designs, and subcontractor deliverables
  • Provide on-site technical support, ensuring safe and correct implementation
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering capability growth
  • Oversee budgets, schedules, risks, quality and delivery performance across your portfolio

A confident technical leader who brings expertise, collaboration and clarity to complex water-sector projects.

You will have:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Strong professional experience within the water, wastewater or related engineering sectors
  • Expertise in:
  • Electrical power systems
  • Water treatment control systems
  • Integrated system and automation design
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, procurement processes and document control
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
  • A proactive, adaptable and solution-driven mindset
Desirable:
  • Professional qualification (IEng / CEng MIET)
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience
  • A passion for continuous improvement, innovation and progression
