Job summary

Edwards, a brand within Atlas Copco Group, seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer - Sustaining to drive strategic technical leadership across sustaining engineering for Bristol sites and service division. You will chair design reviews, set electrical engineering approaches, ensure repeatable solutions, and mentor engineers toward leadership roles, while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement at our Bristol site, with remote and on-site collaboration

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering/Science required (essential).
• Experience in sustaining engineering / product lifecycle support (essential).
• Ability to influence technical decisions across disciplines without direct authority (essential).
• Structured problem solving, risk assessment and verification thinking to resolve complex issues (essential).
• Deep technical competence in one or more engineering disciplines with ability to learn adjacent domains (essential).
• Excellent problem solving and data-driven root cause analysis (essential).
• Strong understanding of change control, configuration management and technical documentation (essential).
• Plan and execute verification activities (test/analysis) and assess risk (essential).
• Excellent influencing and communication of complex topics to mixed audiences (essential).

Responsibilities

• Chair and assure design reviews; provide design governance across sustaining projects.
• Set electrical engineering approaches for sustaining projects; ensure repeatable solutions.
• Accountable for technical elements of product system/subsystem design; identify risks and mitigations.
• Ensure modularity and standardisation to maximise reuse of engineering effort.
• Oversee safety and type testing; review/approve related reports.
• Mentor and coach a growing team of Electrical Engineers at all levels.
• Lead adoption of best practice electrical engineering and new technologies across projects.
