Job summary

McDermott is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to interpret complex issues, lead discipline engineering, and deliver high‑level electrical design across FEED and detailed studies. Independent work with minimal guidance, plus team leadership on projects is expected.

The role requires deep electrical expertise and broad discipline knowledge within engineering, with the ability to manage resources and communicate complex concepts effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required or Master’s degree preferred.
• 15–20 years of oil and gas experience with major contractors or consultants.
• Detailed knowledge of design techniques, standards, codes and guidelines.
• Registered Professional Engineer or membership in a professional engineering society preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design per design basis and project specifications.
• Lead discipline engineering design and coordinate with other teams to meet schedule and budget.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and procedures with clear documentation.
• Direct small to medium engineering teams as a Lead Engineer when required.
• Interface with procurement, fabrication, and project management for successful delivery.
• Participate in reviews, audits, and project kickoff and vendor meetings.
• Provide technical direction to Designers and ensure engineering integrity of the work area.
