Job Description:
NRL’s engineering client is looking to recruit a Lead Electrical Engineer (Design) to join them on a permanent staff basis in Macclesfield. Hybrid working is available.
Role Overview:
- The Lead Electrical Engineer will support the Term Framework Design Manager through provision of Electrical Engineering, Design and Consultancy Services.
- This role operates in the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector.
- The role will start on a part-time basis, developing over time alongside electrical project activities.
- The candidate will support the delivery of clean energy solutions that are innovative, sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective.

Role detail:
- The Lead Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Term Framework Design Manager and supports departmental efficiency.
- Responsibilities include assisting with audits, resource coordination, workload prioritization, and project deliverables.
- Assist with feasibility studies, project delivery, contract documentation, and mentoring team members.
- Support procedural improvements and provide technical advice.
- Lead the electrical design team to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.
Requirements:
- Chartered/Incorporated Engineer or working towards Chartership
- Experience as Lead Electrical Engineer
- Knowledge in building services, electrical & instrumentation design
- Degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Understanding of design process, building regulations, BS7671, BS5839, BS EN 60079-14, and Compex qualifications
- Experience in electrical design standards, project lifecycle, HV/LV systems, and CDM Regulations 2015
Preferred experience:
- Application of electrical design standards
- Project lifecycle (RIBA)
- Industrial HV and LV distribution systems
- Digital engineering tools and quality assurance practices
