Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Nuclear sector detailed design and HV Substation projects to join our Manchester team. This leadership role delivers complete electrical scopes, manages project teams, and handles technical design for critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of UK engineering experience with recent detailed design in the Nuclear sector.
• Deep expertise in HV/LV distribution, power systems modelling and substation design.
• Active UK SC Clearance or eligible to obtain it.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering; CEng/IEng preferred.
• Hybrid work pattern in Manchester (2-3 days in the office, Tue-Thu).

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical project delivery, including schedule/MDR creation, CTR estimates, change control, and delegating work packages.
• Direct hands‑on electrical design: SLDs, power system calculations, earthing and lightning protection, load schedules, cable routing, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Specify and procure major electrical assets: HV/LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, motors, and lighting.
• Conduct HV power system modelling, protection studies, and liaise with DNOs and project stakeholders.
• Oversee compliance with UK nuclear codes, ATEX/DSEAR guidelines, and CE marking directives.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Security Clearance: Must hold active UK SC Clearance or be fully eligible to achieve it.
• Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent completed apprenticeship) with CEng/IEng status preferred.
• Work Pattern: Hybrid model (2-3 days per week in the Manchester office, typically Tuesday-Thursday).
