Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical scopes on challenging projects in the Aberdeen area. The role requires leadership of an engineering team, strong technical knowledge, and adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has offshore experience, relevant certifications, and a degree in Electrical Engineering. The position is hybrid, based in Aberdeen City Centre, and supports tender activities with technical input.

Qualifications

  • Offshore Oil & Gas experience is required.
  • Valid offshore certification such as BOSIET and MIST (or equivalent) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong technical background with extensive electrical engineering expertise.
  • Experience selecting and applying relevant codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate electrical engineering teams within a project environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical system design/analysis including power system studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute electrical engineering activities across assigned project scopes, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with project requirements.
  • Act as the discipline focal point, providing technical direction and oversight to the electrical engineering team.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, project management, and other disciplines.
  • Allocate, supervise, and review work to ensure timely delivery and efficient resource use.
  • Maintain project plans, progress updates, cost control, estimates, and schedules.

Lead Electrical Engineer

Contract Type: Contract basis, up to 6 months Location: Aberdeen City Centre / Hybrid Discipline: Electrical Engineering Projects: Decom and late life

Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the delivery of electrical engineering scopes across a range of challenging engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing electrical engineering activities to a high technical standard while ensuring delivery remains aligned with agreed budgets, schedules, quality standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute electrical engineering activities across assigned project scopes, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with project requirements.
  • Act as the discipline focal point, providing technical direction, guidance, and oversight to the electrical engineering team.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, project management teams, engineering leadership, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Allocate, supervise, and review work across the discipline team to ensure high standards, timely delivery, and effective utilisation of resources.
  • Maintain project plans, progress updates, cost control activities, estimates, and schedules for assigned electrical engineering scopes.
  • Ensure project changes are identified, documented, and managed through the appropriate change control processes.
  • Review and approve electrical engineering deliverables and ensure effective document control and digital submission through integrated management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, industry codes, procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Support tender and proposal activities by providing technical input, estimates, schedules, and discipline expertise.
  • Attend project and client meetings as required, providing clear technical guidance and progress updates.
  • Support the development, mentoring, and competency assessment of electrical engineering personnel.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, systems, processes, and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience within the Offshore Oil & Gas industry.
  • Valid offshore certification including BOSIET, MIST, offshore medical, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong technical background with extensive electrical engineering expertise.
  • Experience in the selection and application of relevant codes, standards, engineering practices, and statutory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate electrical engineering teams within a project environment.
  • Good understanding of commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of engineering delivery.
  • Experience in electrical system design and analysis, including power system studies.
Desirable Requirements
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership).
  • Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution.
Reporting & Working Relationships

The Lead Electrical Engineer will work closely with engineering management, project teams, clients, and discipline leads. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve successful project delivery.
