Job summary

Anthony Best Dynamics Limited in Norwich seeks a Lead Engineer - Electrical Design to lead the Electrical Design & Engineering Services (EDES) team and drive complex electrical systems from concept to delivery. The role balances hands-on design with strategic team leadership, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery across global simulators.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate internal and external resources, and work closely with senior leaders to optimise capabilities and outsourcing

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum five years’ experience in an engineering environment.
• Experience delivering complex engineering projects or technical workstreams.
• Experience providing technical guidance, coaching or mentoring to other engineers.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Knowledge of, or experience working within, the automotive or motorsport sectors.
• Desirable: AutoCAD experience.
• Desirable: 3D CAD experience (e.g. Solidworks, NX, Catia, Creo).
• Desirable: Experience leading or supervising an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the EDES team, providing clear direction, priorities and support to deliver team objectives.
• Coordinate team workload and resources, taking account of capability, priorities and project requirements.
• Set and monitor team objectives, addressing delivery or performance issues where required.
• Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Manage team and individual performance, recognising achievement and addressing performance or capability concerns appropriately.
• Support the development and progression of team members, identifying opportunities to utilise strengths and expertise.
• Own the electrical design of simulator subsystems, e.g., Cabin, Access system, Motion Stages.
• Lead assigned electrical engineering projects and technical workstreams from concept to delivery.
• Develop testing procedures and provide technical guidance for validation and commissioning.
• Perform design testing, commissioning and validation activities.
• Develop 2D block line diagrams using CAD and produce drawings, BOM structures.
• Work with purchasing on costings for parts and update existing 2D CAD.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery across projects.
• Travel worldwide to support build, testing, commissioning and servicing of simulators.
