Job summary

Parkinson Gray Associates is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) in Leeds to lead complex electrical building services projects across the UK. You will act as the technical authority, mentor engineers and guide multidisciplinary teams on LV/HV designs, lighting and ICT systems while ensuring compliance with UK standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Significant experience in building services electrical design.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing design teams.
• Strong knowledge of UK standards, regulations and design guidance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of complex building services projects from concept to completion.
• Act as technical authority for electrical engineering within multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and review LV/HV systems, lighting, small power, fire alarms, security and ICT.
• Ensure compliance with BS, IEC, IET and Building Regulations.
• Oversee design quality, risk management and technical assurance processes.
• Provide line management, mentoring and guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Support career development and capability building within the electrical team.
• Contribute to resource planning and workload management.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Lead technical discussions, design reviews and client presentations.
• Support bids, proposals and interviews.
• Champion low-carbon, energy-efficient and digitally enabled design solutions.
