Job summary

EarthStream Global is seeking an experienced EHV Substation Primary Design Engineer to lead complex projects, from feasibility to construction support. Based at Thorpe Park, Leeds or in Cheadle, this role involves delivering primary electrical designs for EHV substations up to 132kV and coordinating with protection, civil, and project delivery teams.

You will develop single line diagrams, equipment schedules and technical specifications, ensuring designs meet National Grid, DNO and industry

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience designing EHV and HV substations.
• Experience with AIS and/or GIS substations; knowledge of protection and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary electrical designs for EHV substations up to 132kV.
• Develop single line diagrams, substation layouts, equipment schedules and technical specifications.
• Complete feasibility studies, concept designs and detailed engineering activities.
• Prepare specifications for transformers, switchgear, cables, overhead line interfaces and associated plant.
• Produce engineering calculations and supporting technical documentation.
• Support AIS and GIS substation projects.
• Coordinate with protection and control, civil engineering and project delivery teams.
• Attend design reviews and technical workshops with clients and project stakeholders.
• Ensure designs meet National Grid, DNO, ICP and industry standards.
• Support tender submissions and mentor graduate and junior engineers where appropriate.
