Job summary

Carmichael UK is recruiting an experienced Project Manager to lead a major earthworks package on the Lower Thames Crossing project in Basildon, Essex. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of a large-scale earthworks section, managing multidisciplinary teams and aligning with senior leadership to meet programme objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or major infrastructure.
• Significant experience delivering bulk earthworks, linear earthworks, mass haul or large-scale earthmoving projects.
• Strong understanding of earthmoving plant, production outputs, methodologies and constraints.
• Experience managing large site teams and multiple work fronts.

Responsibilities

• Lead a sectional delivery team to ensure earthworks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
• Manage day-to-day site operations across large-scale earthworks activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with the client, project stakeholders, supply chain partners and local communities.
• Drive a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Produce and manage detailed delivery programmes, resource plans and project budgets.
• Work closely with commercial, engineering and support functions to ensure successful project delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost performance.
• Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership and contribute to project-wide strategic planning.
• Support the development and mentoring of site management and engineering teams.
