Are you an experienced delivery driver who is ready to take on more responsibility while still being out on the road?
We are looking for a Lead Driver / Transport Supervisor to join our bakery delivery operation in Harrogate.
This is a hands-on driving role with additional responsibility for coordinating and supporting our team of drivers, organising daily deliveries and helping look after our fleet of eight company vans.
You will regularly complete delivery routes yourself, so we are not looking for someone who wants a desk-based transport management position. You might currently be a Senior Driver, Lead Driver, Driver Team Leader or experienced Multi-Drop Driver who has already started taking responsibility for other drivers, routes or the day-to-day running of a delivery operation.
The first 2 to 3 hours of each shift are spent working alongside the team to pack products, prepare orders and get everything ready for dispatch. Once the vans are ready to leave, you'll help coordinate the drivers and deliveries, as well as completing routes yourself.
Working closely with our Logistics Manager, you'll be one of the key people making sure our bakery products get where they need to be safely and on time.
You will also help look after our fleet of eight electric and diesel vans, including arranging servicing, MOTs, repairs and maintenance, completing vehicle checks and making sure the fleet remains safe, roadworthy and compliant.
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced drivers who have taken on additional responsibility for a team or delivery operation.
You could currently be working as a Lead Driver, Senior Delivery Driver, Driver Team Leader, Transport Supervisor, Dispatch Supervisor, Multi-Drop Driver or Delivery Supervisor.
Ideally, you will have
Experience looking after vehicles or a small fleet would be useful, but we're more interested in finding someone with the right combination of driving experience, reliability and the ability to lead other drivers.
You will work four 10-hour shifts per week, Wednesday to Saturday, approximately midnight to 10am.
The standard rate is £16.00 per hour, with an additional £3.00 per hour for hours worked between 11pm and 6am.
This means that on a typical midnight-10am shift, the first six hours attract the additional unsocial-hours payment.
If you're an experienced delivery driver who enjoys being on the road but is ready to take the next step and help lead a delivery team, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
