Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Rotherham is seeking an experienced Lead Driller (Geotechnical) to join a respected UK consultancy delivering ground investigation projects across the UK. The role involves operating and maintaining drilling rigs, taking soil and groundwater samples, and working outdoors with a safety-first mindset.

You will hold a CSCS card, have an NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling (or equivalent), a full UK driving licence, and be prepared to travel or stay away from home (expenses

Qualifications

• Proven track record in geotechnical or environmental drilling.
• CSCS card (essential).
• NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling or equivalent (preferred).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to safe working and flexibility to work across multiple sites.
• Live in or near to Rotherham.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain drilling and sampling rigs, including window sampling and dynamic probing equipment.
• Collect accurate soil and groundwater samples in accordance with industry standards.
• Record site data, sample depths, and ground conditions clearly and precisely.
• Carry out daily safety checks and basic maintenance on rigs.
• Work closely with technical staff to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Be willing to travel and stay away from home when required (expenses paid).

A respected UK consultancy with a long track record in civil, structural, and environmental engineering, is expanding their ground investigation team and looking for an experienced Lead Driller.
