Job summary

GE Vernova in Rugby is seeking a skilled Controls & Automation Engineer to join its New Product Introduction (NPI) team. You will design, test, and migrate software for next-generation automation and Dynamic Positioning platforms, spanning HMI and embedded control systems.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust architectures, real-time control software, and compliant migrations, contributing to product roadmaps and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in automation and control systems engineering, preferably in product development/NPI.
• Proficiency in C programming for real-time or embedded control systems.
• Experience designing or working with distributed control system architectures.
• Hands-on experience with HMI development tools and platforms.
• Strong understanding of control system architectures and real-time systems.
• Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 or equivalent standards.
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 standards and their application in industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate control system software for next-generation automation and DP platforms within the NPI framework.
• Develop control logic, algorithms, and system architectures to meet functional, safety, and performance requirements.
• Support migration of existing control system codebases to GE priority platforms, ensuring continuity, performance, and compliance.
• Design and develop intuitive, high-performance HMI solutions aligned with product requirements and user experience goals.
• Ensure HMI designs meet industry standards, usability best practices, and product roadmap objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional NPI teams to deliver against product roadmaps and drive improvements.
