Job summary

GE Vernova in the United Kingdom seeks a Lead Engineer to join the HVDC control systems team. You will lead the design and development of modelling and control techniques for HVDC schemes and mentor engineers across the Product Care Department.

Responsibilities include defining requirements and test specs for Control & Protection applications, developing event- and rate-driven software, and validating with MIL/SIL/HIL using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD and RSCAD.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science or power systems and power electronics.
  • Knowledge of HVDC control technologies (VSC and LCC).
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for control development.
  • Familiar with Agile software development practices and basics of Git.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of modelling and control techniques in time- and frequency-domain for HVDC schemes.
  • Lead development of requirements, design and test specifications for Control & Protection Applications.
  • Lead design and development of event- and rate-driven control software for protection systems.
  • Oversee validation with MIL/SIL/HIL using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD and RSCAD.
  • Apply RCA and analytical thinking to solve problems; mentor engineers and lead teams using Git, Jira and Confluence.
