Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Domestic Services Supervisor to oversee cleaning staff across wards and departments. You will provide guidance, ensure hygienic, safe environments, and support continuous service improvements while maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards.

The role includes staff rostering, training, on-the-job coaching, and procedure documentation to support patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate.
Customer Service Training
Literate and numerate

Responsibilities

Manage domestic staff to ensure safe, hygienic, tidy and clean areas in clinical and non-clinical spaces.
Administer Staff Rostering system and monitor staff attendance.
Undertake Return to Work meetings after sickness absence and manage staff development.
Train staff on correct methods and working practices; supervise new staff until standards are met.
Check and maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, and schedules; report maintenance needs.
Carry out supervisory inspections to ensure work completed to required standards.
Record incidents via Datix and maintain staff registers and records.
Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning for new buildings or departments.
