Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking an experienced Healthcare Science Practitioner to join the X-ray Equipment Evaluation team. You will perform QA testing on diagnostic X-ray equipment (mammography, dental, angiography, CT) and contribute to radiation protection surveys, working with radiographers and CMPE staff to uphold safety and quality.

You should have registration with HCPC or RCT, or be eligible, and a degree in a STEM subject or Diagnostic Radiography.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM subject or Diagnostic Radiography degree (or equivalent).
• Registration with Register of Clinical Technologists, or HCPC as radiographer (or equivalent).
• Desirable: Registration in Diagnostic Radiology / Rad. Prot. field.
• Experience operating diagnostic X-ray equipment across modalities.
• QA experience for rad/CR/DR equipment and fluoroscopy.
• Writing equipment performance reports for QA visits.

Responsibilities

• Equipment performance testing and radiation protection surveys across modalities.
• Independent commissioning of equipment and routine QA testing.
• Calibrate dose measuring equipment and calibrate radiation protection meters.
• Maintain records using Excel/Access and produce electronic reports.
• Supervise and mentor less experienced staff; contribute to teaching activities.
• Lead QA surveys for a modality and collaborate with radiology staff in hospitals.
