Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced radiographer to train to report plain film studies and support service development. You will lead imaging quality initiatives and work with consultants and administration to maintain service standards.

The role includes clinical reporting opportunities, staff education responsibilities, and on-call/out-of-hours support within the Radiology department.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor PACS/RIS data quality.
• Train staff in PACS/RIS and related systems.
• Perform diagnostic imaging examinations per departmental protocols.
• Ensure image quality across all staff.
• Provide initial and ongoing staff training in the designated modality.
• Be competent in using imaging equipment.
• Participate in on-call, out-of-hours service.
• Conduct QA in the designated area.
• Adhere to radiographic protocols and radiation protection regulations.
• Report equipment malfunctions.
• Send accurate image data to PACS for storage and transmission.
• Justify radiographic examinations for juniors and students.
• Promote quality initiatives and patient care standards.
• Undertake staff appraisals.
• Communicate effectively with patients on complex issues.
• Maintain a patient, courteous manner in all aspects of communication with patients and staff
