Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group invites applications for a Lead DevOps Engineer to shape our cloud-native infrastructure in Nottingham or London. You will lead design and implementation of modern DevOps practices, automating infrastructure with Terraform and GitLab CI, and guiding platform engineering across teams.

Expect hands-on leadership, mentoring, and collaboration to deliver secure, scalable, and observable systems on AWS with Kubernetes (EKS) and Istio.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, GitLab CI and Bash/Python.
• Demonstrable AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) expertise.
• 6+ years in DevOps or Platform Engineering with a lead role.
• Orchestration and monitoring tools - Istio, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK.
• Proven experience building and operating cloud-native platforms.
• Development experience in Java, C++, or C#; AWS certifications and financial services background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of modern DevOps and platform engineering practices.
• Automate full-stack infrastructure using Terraform and GitLab.
• Lead the design of CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes workloads using AWS EKS and Istio Service Mesh.
• Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with development and business goals.
• Mentor and guide DevOps engineers, fostering automation, security and operational excellence.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance platform capabilities and developer experience.
