Job summary

Bouygues Travaux Publics is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the Sizewell C Main Civil Works team in the UK. You will coordinate design development, interfaces and delivery across clients, construction teams, designers, consultants and supply chain for Secondary Steelworks and Steel Cylinder Concrete Pipes.

You will lead option studies, value engineering and ensure safety, constructability and whole-life cost considerations are integrated with programme requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in engineering or design.
• Minimum five years’ professional experience, including at least three years in design management and consultant coordination.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designers, consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of steelwork and concrete design.
• Strong understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).

Responsibilities

• Manage design activities, deliverables and technical interfaces across Client, construction teams, designers, consultants and supply chain.
• Ensure design information is complete, coordinated, approved and delivered per contractual requirements and programme.
• Review designs for safety, constructability, maintainability, quality and whole-life performance.
• Coordinate design programmes with construction, procurement and commercial requirements.
• Monitor design progress and provide clear reporting to project leadership.
• Lead option studies, design optimisation, value engineering and whole-life cost assessments.
• Manage design consultants with clear scopes, deliverables and interfaces.
• Challenge designs to achieve safer, more constructible, better-value solutions.
