Job summary

SSE is seeking a Lead Design Engineer for Scotland. You will lead a diverse design portfolio and oversee delivery across Aberdeen, Perth or Dundee, with a vehicle provided for travel between sites as required.

Permanent, full-time with Flexible First options. You will manage the design team, drive cost‑effective solutions from feasibility to final design, and collaborate with contractor partners to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Design (preferred) or HNC with substantial experience.
• Proven people management experience and leadership skills.
• Strong design governance and CDM knowledge.
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a varied design portfolio and coordinate resources to meet SSEN standards.
• Lead development and delivery of cost-effective engineering solutions from feasibility to final design.
• Manage day-to-day design team operations, driving productivity and contractor performance.
• Identify improvement initiatives, set KPIs, and drive performance across the team.
• Collaborate with contractor design partners to meet project requirements on time and budget.
