You will lead technical teams, manage the lifecycle of design projects, and apply your expertise in machine design and advanced engineering techniques. Ideal candidates will have an HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency in SolidWorks, and strong project management skills. This role includes mentoring, collaboration across teams, and the development of innovative design solutions.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification, ideally in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience managing and delivering bespoke machine design projects.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for layouts, detailing, and dimensioning to ISO standards.
• Strong background in project management, commissioning, and site work.
• Proven team leadership and organisational abilities.
• In‑depth understanding of modern design and manufacturing processes.
• Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor technical teams, fostering growth in both technical expertise and communication skills.
• Set clear objectives, conduct regular feedback sessions, and carry out performance evaluations.
• Manage the full lifecycle of design projects, from initial concept to completion.
• Coordinate timelines, oversee multiple priorities, and ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Design, model, and optimise systems using advanced engineering techniques and simulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and validate new design concepts.
• Use Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering principles for production.
• Work closely with production, software, quality, and aftersales teams.
• Liaise with external partners and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and present progress updates.
