Job summary

Quilter plc is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to accelerate our data strategy within the Chief Data Office. You will define standards, lead data pipelines, and ensure scalable, secure data products that empower insights across Quilter’s businesses.

You will work with engineers, analysts, and platform teams to translate requirements into robust designs, mentoring others and driving modern engineering practices. This role sits in Southampton or London and reports to the Data Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Senior/lead data engineer experience in a complex enterprise.
• Experience with Databricks on Azure and both batch and real-time processing.
• Experience delivering data products and platform capabilities across domains.
• Knowledge of data governance, GDPR, data retention, and security controls.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for one or more data domains and establish standards.
• Lead the technical design and delivery of data pipelines and platforms.
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and architects to prioritise and deliver work.
• Drive automation, CI/CD, testing, and observability practices.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
