Job summary

Tenth Revolution Group is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in Newcastle with hybrid working arrangements. The role focuses on migrating on-prem data platforms to a modern Databricks-based architecture and leading a team of engineers and analysts to deliver scalable data solutions.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to shape data products, drive governance, and raise performance, reliability and scalability across the data platform. This is a strategic data transformation leadership position.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership or mentoring experience in data engineering.
• Hands-on Databricks experience.
• Experience delivering cloud-based data platforms and migrations.
• Strong SQL and ETL/ELT pipeline skills.
• Knowledge of Azure data technologies is a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of data platforms from on-premise environments to Databricks.
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions.

Lead Data Engineer

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £80,000 + Benefits

Lead Data Engineer role joining a growing organisation embarking on a major data transformation programme. This role offers the chance to lead the migration from legacy on-premise data platforms to a modern Databricks-based architecture, helping to shape the future of the company's data capabilities.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building and optimising scalable data solutions while providing technical leadership to a team of engineers and analyst. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality data products that drive insight and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of data platforms from on-premise environments to Databricks
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions
• Drive best practices across data engineering, architecture and governance
• Mentor and support data engineers/analysts within the team

• Strong experience in Data Engineering roles, including leadership or mentoring responsibilities

• Knowledge of Azure data technologies would be advantageous
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
