Job description

Legal and General Retail’s Data Operations team is hiring three Lead Data Engineers following a merger that expanded their operations into a new area. These roles focus on the retirements side of the Retail division and involve building new data pipelines using tools such as Synapse, DBT, Azure Devops, and Snowflake.

This role includes designing, building, and implementing data solutions with modern ETL techniques. You will also mentor junior team members and drive projects forward.

What you will be doing

1. Ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, GDPR compliant, meet business requirements, and adhere to quality standards.
2. Following standards and release management processes for all developments.
3. Developing standards in a changing environment and facilitating team sessions for improvement.
4. Identifying issues and risks, leading their resolution, and supporting colleagues.
5. Participating in team and project planning within an agile framework.
6. Refining tasks in the Product Backlog and breaking down deliveries into technical components.
7. Converting user stories into technical, testing, and documentation tasks.
8. Liaising with end customers, Architects, and Product Owners to translate business goals into technical specifications.
9. Participating in epic refinement sessions to ensure understandability and achievability.
10. Providing mentorship and acting as a role model within the team.

Qualifications

• Professional qualifications in Data Engineering or related field.
• Recognized badges/certificates in tools like Snowflake, Azure Synapse/Data Factory, DBTCloud, Azure DevOps.
