About the Role

Seen as a key role to the success of this, the Lead Data Engineer will play an integral role in overseeing the development and maintenance of scalable data platform, infrastructure and solutions, whilst focusing on delivering continuous value to the business through aligning our data engineering backlog with business goals, objectives and outcomes.
You’ll be responsible for leading the data squad in delivering user requirements that have been prioritised to the highest standard, creating first rate data products that provide long-term value to the business and conform with our agreed data governance principles. Whilst this is a lead role with line management, it is expected that you will be a hands-on data engineer as required.
You’ll maintain a strong connection to our Group purpose of ‘connecting our communities with a better financial future’ and work in collaboration with the wider Groups’ management community. You will embrace & promote our culture that is focused on being creative, courageous, collaborative, efficient and accountable.
About You
You’ll have the ability to lead a small team of Data Engineers and be a competent agile leader with strong knowledge of methodologies, principles and agile best practices required to deliver value at pace.
You’ll have extensive knowledge of cloud platforms and warehousing solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure and Data Bricks, however, we’re also open to applications from candidates with experience from other cloud providers like AWS or GCP.
Strong technical experience with ETL techniques, programming languages and data engineering tools such as SQL, Python, R and Apache is fundamental for the role, as is good knowledge of data integration and data quality management best practices.
You’ll have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage stakeholders of varying levels.
